Match Rules

RULES FOR MATCH FISHING
ALL LANDING NETS AND KEEP NETS MUST BE DIPPED BEFORE FISHING TANNERS DAM

1. No competitor will have live or dead fish in his or her box/basket before a match.

2. The signal to commence fishing will be given by the match organiser or a person nominated by him and repeated in each section.

3. Groundbait or loose feed must not be introduced to the swim before the starting signal.

4. Every competitor must fish within one metre of an imaginary line between his peg number and the water. On flowing water, he will fish from his position in the direction of the flow as far as a metre upstream of the next peg. On still water he will fish as far as half the distance between his peg or the pegs on either side. Where competitors are drawn on opposite banks, the limit of the swim will be the half way mark between each bank. The competitor will restrict his activities completely to these boundaries.

5. A competitor shall have in use only one rod, one line and a single hook at any time but he may have other rods or tackle assembled ready to use.

6. Any bait, subject to local rules, may be used.

7. Competitors must strike, play and land their own fish.

8. All fish must be kept in keepnets which comply with the rules. In addition, they must be made of ‘conservation’ material for matches on Tanners’ Dam.

9. All freshwater fish in season are eligible for weighing. Game fish and crustaceans are not eligible. Pike may be disallowed at the discretion of the organiser in which case an announcement will be made at the draw.

10. Competitors must cease fishing at the signal. Should a competitor be playing a fish hooked before the signal was given he will be permitted no more than 15 minutes after ‘time’ has been called to land the fish.

11. Competitors are responsible for making sure their peg is clear of litter and no competitor may have his catch weighed who has litter lying on the bank of his swim.

12. Each competitor is responsible for ensuring the correct weight of his catch is recorded.

13. Any objections must be made in writing and lodged with the match organiser not later than one hour after the end of the match. Irregularities brought to notice later, may be dealt with only at the discretion of the committee.

14. Anglers with special needs, should notify these to the match organiser before the draw.

15. All matches will be fished tolocal rules where they apply.
